Haute d’Oeuvre
In a world marked by social injustice and widening wealth disparity, the rich thrive while many others struggle. Governments fail, and many people feel betrayed. Social protests are numerous. As a critique of our obsession with social media and material distractions, the collection 'Haute d’Oeuvre' aims to provoke reflection by merging luxury fashion with 'humble' foods, shedding light on issues like social injustice, rising inflation, and the ever-growing divide between rich and poor.
With my 3D collection for LOEWE, I want to step into the footsteps of designer Jonathan Anderson - founder of JW Anderson - who with his work always tries to make people think about important social issues. I want to confront people and make them think about social injustice, about the ever growing gap between the rich and the poor, and especially about what this means for a younger generation. I want to mock the audience a little bit to get its attention, by putting foods that are seen as ‘luxury’ and ‘poor’ on minimalistic fashion pieces, which are made out of luxury materials - to emphasize the craftsmanship of the Spanish leather brand.

In my third year at AMFI, I’ve had the chance to participate in the specialization 3D Hypercraft. Even though I’m a branding student and not a designer, I’ve always been extremely interested by the 3D world of fashion. The endless possibilities it gives when creating are fascinating to me and this minor has also been one of the reasons why I wanted to study at AMFI.
Even though I did not have any experience in fashion design, my teachers and I realized that combining the vormgeving techniques of branding when 3D designing clothes and creating 3D environments is a very sufficient and interesting way of working. For this project I’ve received an 9, a grade I am extremely proud of.
